Food Lately at our house

It has been fun being at home with my man & our daughter, not going to work, and taking the time to cook together, in between the naps of Olivia.

Here is what we ate this week:
Salad from the garden - with hints of orange & shrimps
Post pregnancy steak "saignant" with home made fries & Lolo's very nice bearnaise sauce
Crown of Lamb with confiture of red onion and mash with spring onions
Roasted vegetable lasagne with a rucola & ricotta cream with pumpkin seeds
Salmon - Courgette & lime Salad - Guacamole - Basmati rice with sweet peppers
Rôti de Boeuf with golden home made fries

Charcuterie du Pays Basque & Gâteau Basque

Hospital Food: The 3L Syndrome Way

Of course, my lovely man cannot have me staying in the hospital and making me eat the normal hospital food.
We have a fridge full of goodies, I have the minibar of minibars.
He spoiled me with nice salads, cheese I could not eat during my pregnancy, mmm goatcheese, hello again champagne, quiche, freshly diced pine apple, my favourite Greek yoghurt, potato salad with trout and mint, pear and blue cheese, with nuts & honey.
It makes the days at the hospital a little less hard, while we are waiting to take our little baby bee home.

Olivia's Giveaways & birth card

Since I didn't want to do the normal baby give-aways, I have spent some time searching for an original present to give to the people who come visit our little baby. I found this idea on the website of Bakerella and I knew that was it! Old mason jars filled with a nice cookie mix. Everything is in there for sugar bomb cookies, they just need to add an egg, butter and vanilla extract. If people want to bake the cookies, they can, and if they want to hold on to it as a souvenir they can too. It looks good in every kitchen, I think. Even the nurses of the maternity clinic say they have never seen it before! Jeej!

Oliviacookies will be a big hit! Maybe we should commercialise it, for our little babies savings account!

Olivia Lily : A Birth Story

Olivia Lily stole my heart.
She came out of my belly, and she stole my heart in 1 second!
Since my body was struggling at the end of the pregnancy, the doctor decided to put the delivery into motion at 36 weeks and 1 day. Just to keep this little schrimp and her mommy, that's me, healthy.
She came into this world after a total process of 27 hours, so we were happy to finally meet her.
But from the moment you see this little baby's face and they lay her on you, skin to skin, you're sold.
Nothing can compare to this feeling.
I saw my lovely man holding her, and I was sold again, twice in 1 day, by the most beautiful love there is.
The love for this man & the love for our daughter.
I'm a lucky girl...very lucky...
PS: Girls, friends, women of the world - Epidural is not a luxury. I mean it!!!
And for those who have done it without - RESPECT! But, euh, how?

The Most beautiful day of my life (By Laurent)

HAHA she finally gave me the control of the blog for 1 post. And which post!!!!!

Today is the most beautiful day of my life. I was already feeling lucky to have found the woman I knew I would spend the rest of my life with. But today Bebeeke has arrived. I am the very proud dad of a little human being made of her, made of me, made of us. I feel so happy and spoiled. My life is perfect. I can’t express how proud I m of Lisa for having been able to go through the all pregnancy process in such a brave manner. She faced her fear, she faced pain, she faced bad and good moment, but for the sweetest result.  Even though she likes to say she is not, let me tell you that she is a hell of a woman.  I ll not describe the birth of Bebeeke or give you the name. I let her the pleasure to do it herself.

Today marks the beginning of a new life. A life at 3, like in the 3L Syndrome (+ Ploesjie and sharky.) I ll do anything to give Lisa plenty of materiel to post on her blog. I ll do anything to put a smile on the face of the 2 women of my life, to make them happy, to make them laugh, to give them the best life I can. We ll try to teach Bebeeke the basic value of life : The importance of the family, the importance of friends. Teach her that we can still be happy in life with simple things like gardening, cooking, travelling, loving as long as you share those moments. We ll try to protect her, I will try to protect them.
I would like also to take this opportunity to say thank you to our family for being there, for their support, for their Love. Thank you for raising us to this stage. I hope we ll be able to do as well as you did. I would like also to thank my friends. I don’t know if they ll read that cause blogs are for girls ;) but I love you and I know you ll recognise you. Thank you for being there.

And sure last but not least : Lisa mon amour : I love you pluppy. I always told you from the first time I saw you I fell in love with you. Even through an “original” beginning I never doubted you were the woman of my life. You make me such a complete, happy man.
Bebeeke : Your parents are not perfect but we ll always do our best to give you a beautiful life. I love you. Don’t grow up to quickly. Give us the time to enjoy every moments. And don’t forget please : look like your mother and take the character of your daddy ;)

Future daddy

I think you have found the right man, when you would want your daughter to come home with a man like that.
I have that.
The only thing I can wish for my daughter, is that she will find a man like him.
A man that has flowers delivered at your work.
A man that was there for me every step of the way of this pregnancy, although I wasn't always a happy camper.
A man that says you are beautiful when you feel at your worst.
I am a lucky girl.
And beebeeke, you will be one lucky girl too, because he will be the first man that loves you and  your first best friend.
My man loves his cereal - he is a cereal killer
(Spoon presents from me to him - 25 months together)

Beebeekes Hospital Bag

At 3 weeks (or less, who knows) from the end of her stay in my belly, it was time to get beebeekes bag & things organised. (I will do a post on my bag later on). I must say - her bag turns out to be a pretty big deal - no light travel for this little lady.
This is her hospital & future diaper bag, pretty nice hè
She will have a choice of things to wear when she gets out
A nice nest in the Maxicosi to bring her home safely
And she will already have some friends to keep her company.

I have done some research on what to take to the hospital- and I think we over-packed - but at least it is done.
Tomorrow my last day working, and then I will put my feet up, get some last things done and wait for this little mermaid to come.
And yes, I am scared for what is to come.
