Our vegetable garden...Update+

Do you remember this garden I used to blog about? Well, it still exists. We don't grow so many things this year, because I wanted to take a garden-sabbatical, but hubby wanted to grow some veggies for his daughter anyway. Now these veggie-monsters are taking over the whole garden. I think we put seeds of pumpkins and round zucchinis in the same hole and for the life of me, I don't know whether the monsters are pumpkins or zucchinis, or maybe a whole new vegetable. Anyway, they are big & green. If somebody can help me figure it out, I would be most grateful.
We also have three different berries growing, but only one gave us actual fruit. Very sweet and yummie, Olivia ate them all.

Next year I'm gonna make sure I have a good herb garden, because we spent so much money every week on herbs, and then we use almost nothing. I just wanna go out in my garden and cut off the herbs I need.

Garden Love July 2012

This year has been a weird year for our garden. We had all sorts of plans to make the perfect vegetable garden with a lot of different vegetables producing in different months of the year, but with the coming of our little baby, it became more difficult to take care of the garden like we wanted too. But all in all, and considering the bad weather this spring and summer, I think we still can be happy with the produce of our small garden. We have green and yellow courgettes, different kinds of salads, Basque and Spanish peppers, tomatoes ( for the moment 1 red), radishes, orange, purple and white carrots, strawberries.
We have green beans, spring onions and fall raspberries on the way, yoohoo! So much cooler to eat things from your own garden.
I hope our little one will enjoy being in the garden too when she grows older.
She already has the right footwear!

Garden Love: Garden Style

Hello Garden Lovers!
Here is a new episode of the Garden Love.
Although the weather has been really bad here in Belgium this summer, the garden is blooming!
Lisa the little garden princess...
...with the pink boots & gloves!

Last week we had an overload of rucola (roquette) salad, so we decided to do something clever with it: rucola pesto to freeze...
Rucola, basilicum, olive oil, some pinenuts in the blender
And then you put them in an ice cube tray so you can use them in individual portions.

We also had an abundance of tomatoes in the fridge so we decided to make some real tomato sauce with nothing but tomatoes, onion, garlic and basilicum, also to freeze. Njam and very healthy.

We also celebrated the eating of the first courgette (zucchini) from our own garden. Well, the green monsters are taking over the whole vegetable garden, so we will have hundreds of them very soon.

And of course we made some nice dishes this weekend, with herbs and vegetables from the garden.

Here are some other stars of our garden!

Garden Love: Number 3

This weekend we have eaten meals from our garden!
Green Peas Soup with Laurents home made quiche with baby spinach from our garden and home grown salad

And my baby made bread from scratch with sun flower seeds and poppy seeds
I hear you coming: Lisa, and what did you do while your man was working so hard in the kitchen?

We have some newcomers in the garden, since we've used all of the spinach and some of the salad, we have some space left. We have tooo much salad. Salad, anyone?
