Dirty Thirty Dancing Brunch

This weekend we helped 2 young women of 30 celebrate the start of a new era with a special brunch for their friends and family. They are into dance movies - so we did a subtle Dirty Dancing / Grease theme.
For the food we focused mainly on what they liked to see on their special buffet and we came up with this menu:

 Mimosa
Fresh still lemonade with ginger, mint, lemon, lime, rhubarb bitters and pomegranate
Home made mini cheese burgers
Italian penne salad with rocket salad, sundried tomatoes, pine nuts and green pesto
New York Style bagel with a poached egg, herby cream cheese, smoked salmon and baby spinach
Morroccan bread with 3 different home made dips: red beet / hummus /sesame - red bell pepper / hummus & grilled vegetables tapenade.
Assorted cheese and cold cuts
Pecan Danish
Greek yoghurt with homemade granola
Winter fruit salad with kiwi, apple, pear, clementines and pomegranate
American super fluffy pancakes with maple syrup
(Unfortunately I forgot to take pictures of our tasty burgers and bagel - grrrr)

Happy Birthday, Girls!

Perfect summer BBQ evening

A sunset, fresh salads, home made salsa, good quality meat, rosé wine, friends and mushrooms with melted cheese on the grill...
My idea of a perfect summer BBQ evening. Our friends CJ & K invited us over (like almost every Sunday) for a great BBQ dinner last weekend. Just one of those nights that are memorable.
Of course in all my excitement over the food I forgot to take pictures of the meat, but hey - I'm sure you guys know the concept of BBQ. Kristiaan had a few BBQ tricks up his sleeve, I'm sure he has been watching BBQ University!
Also CJ took the best photo in months of our little family!
Thank you for having us (over and over again!)

Renée's baby party

Yesterday we officially celebrated the birth of a new edition to the girl gang 'Renée' and the birthday of our beautiful friend Kato. There was lots of cake, bubbles, beautiful, ice cream, strawberry lemonade and lots of people and kids toasting on the little baby bundle of joy. Perfect Sunday afternoon!
We love you, Reneéke!

PicNic by The 3L Syndrome

This Sunday we hosted our very first picnic at the local park where we live. Parklife organizes events & workshops in the park every Sunday of August to get people to reclaim the city and do things together in public areas.
We put together a picnic lunch with 7 different elements: vegetable crisps as an appetizer; cold salmorejo 'Spanish tomato (with real peeled tomatoes) soup with bread, garlic and lots of olive oil; a sandwich with homemade sundried tomatospread, barbecued (with love) marinated chicken, grilled yellow bell peppers, red onion, rocket salad and green pesto; Israeli couscous salad with smoked paprika, cherry tomatoes, mozzarella and baby spinach; a fruitsalad with watermelon & blueberries: a brownie and homemade lemon-ade.
We borrowed some wooden apple crates from a local apple orchard to put everything in - and we got sponsored by cleanpicnic.nl for the 100% recycled picnic blankets / trash bag - which made it so easy to keep the park clean after everything was in the tummy. Perfect solution!
We had such an amazing day yesterday and also the organizing went well, so I am looking forward to the next edition! Hope you will join us again!
Thank you!
