Viva Las Vegas

We did another detour to Sin City on my birthday and we stayed at The Venetian Hotel, a hotel with over 4000 rooms and they are all over 60 m². The hotel itself is a world on its own, you never have to leave, you are in wanna-be Venice, there are hundreds of restaurants and shops. We spent the afternoon at the pool, it was just the right depth for Olivia and she had the best time. We had some drinks and just enjoyed the experience. After sunset we went for dinner in the hotel and after for a walk on the strip. Outside it is a different world, it is still unbelievable with al the lights and the giant casino's and hotels - very impressive - all striving to be the biggest & the best, but it also has a very sad side. The side of the drug addicts on the street, the homeless, the drunk people, the people who just lost money at the games, the disabled begging for money,...
I did not feel very at ease with Olivia, because the atmosphere is edgy and things can get out of control very easily taking all things into account. When we were here 5 years ago, I did not really notice all these things - but now it really got to me a bit. So we went back to our safe haven, our big suite with 3 television sets and view on the Strip from the 24th floor. They also have the best beds ever!

The godmothers go to...Disney!

Last Tuesday evening 3 girls went on a roadtrip to Disneyland Paris. Olivia's godmother gifted us tickets for the holidays last year, but we waited for springtime to go. So after a 3 hour drive we checked into our hotel, and after a good hour of jumping on the beds, we finally got the kid down for the night, excited for the day to come. We woke up under a blue sky and we made our way to the park. Even at first sight, it makes you feel happy. It's a completely different world you enter - a real wonderland, away from reality.
After 1 minute, the girl already had minnie ears on her head, after 2 minutes, we spotted Minnie in her spring dress. The day was perfect already for our little girl.  She was shy, as if she had seen her idol for the first time. She did not want to go on the picture with her, though. ( Lucky us, as there was already a queue). We had a very good time, the 3 of us, spending some quality time. Olivia liked 'It's a small world after all' the most I think.
I think it must be very impressive for such a small kiddieboo.
Me I liked the Main Street and the far far west village, which represented everything I love about the US.  Before we left we saw Goofie's Spring Parade, which was a perfect ending to our day.
Thank you, Metie Jana, for a fun day!

Durbuy with a girlie & a babie

Last week I went to Durbuy with Olivia and Annelies, one of my dearest friends.

Durbuy is often described, true or not, as the smallest city  in the world. But it must be said: it is really pretty. All these small pedestrian streets have so much charm, there are nice terraces to have a drink.

It was a hot day in Belgium, one of the 5 this year, and we really enjoyed the day together.

Olivia was an angel all day, even though it was very hot!

Annelies and I have always done cool day-roadtrips together, and after all these years we are still doing them, but with an extra girl in the car.
