Happiness is the Truth

One of my all time favourite albums is 'in search of' by N.E.R.D. I just realised that this album is already more than 13 years old. That's crazy! But I still know every song by heart (yes, I'm a rapper). So when I heard that Pharrell was coming to Antwerp, my  Annelies & myself just had to get tickets.

When you put Annelies and me together, you can be sure that we laugh a lot, and mostly about the most stupid things first. I just love that about us. So even the 150 minutes'(!!!) drive over there (including chips, beer (for her), toilet and candy stops) was fun. It felt like a girlie road trip as we used to do when we were younger.

Anyway - the concert. The man made us wait quite a bit (the 33 year old mother, working girl and boring woman in myself was already thinking: damn, when will I be in bed, and I have to get up early, and it's a long drive and it's raining, blabla), but from the moment that he set foot on the stage until the last song finished we shaked our booties, baby. And it felt so good that I even forgot about the long drive home, the early morning alarm clock and the fact that I'm not in my twenties anymore). And oh boy, those dancers, sexy women!
We gave a 100%, just like they did - sort of.... :)
It was a perfect evening and I'm even a bigger fan now, because he played all my favourite songs from my 13 year old cd (yes, cd - I'm that old) and he seemed really down to earth and happy to be there.
I think everybody left the venue with a good feeling.

On Going Out Sometimes

Yesterday I went to a concert with my good friend Laura. It had been a while since I did that.  And since the bumblebee, it doesn't happen a lot any more, which is completely fine.
But I must say I enjoyed my night out. And it was surprising to see that there is still a whole scene of people who go out on weekdays. I know I probably sound like a complete 'desperate housewife' now and probably I am most of the time (and liking it), but it was nice chatting with my friend, drinking beer and listening to some good music.

By the way, we went to see SX, a Belgian magnetic indiepop band. I would add a lot of 80'ties influences and a powerful front woman to the description! They played at Het Depot, a concert venue in Leuven that used to be a cinema.

Music is so important in life. There is a song for every mood.
I love that!
O already knows her classics.

Music for the unborn

I have read that from at least the 23rd week on, a preborn baby's hearing is developed enough to enable him to respond to outside noise. Babies seem agitated by rock music, kicking violently when they hear it (hmm...maybe I misunderstood the headbanging at 'Rage against the machine' ) and are calmed by classical music. Even the five-month-old foetus has been found to have discriminating musical ears. I am not quite ready to listen to classical music everyday, because it makes me nervous = equals nervous baby, so I am trying to put together a playlist that will become the soundtrack of my unborn baby’s early life. I have read somewhere that they recognise it after they are born, and that it will soothe them when they feel distressed. Worth trying, no?
I was thinking Zero7, Amy Winehouse, Air, Moby & on other moments I'm thinking other classics like Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, The Doors, Nirvana (the softer songs, I mean) or Jazz, or does it need Rap & R&B to survive in this world?
Euhm, or maybe will just try to stay a bit of rock 'n roll.

Luxe-M(usic)-Burger Monkeys

End of June we went for a 2day getaway to Luxemburg.
Turns out Luxemburg is quite a nice city with lots of shops and nice terraces.
Of course, the weather helped. And the company (that's you, baby)...And the luxury hotel...and the Music of Elbow...And the Arctic Monkeys, one of our favourite bands.
