Happy Holidays in Toulouse

There were two events that gave me a little hope these past few days. One was at the airport when a guy was playing the piano (Life from Ludovico Einaudi) and everybody gathered around to enjoy this beautiful moment the day before Christmas and the other was at the Christmas market in Toulouse, where they had this forest of Christmas trees where you could hang your wishes for yourself, your family or for the world and it really struck me how many people wrote messages of peace and hope.

We are spending these holidays at Lolo's sisters and boy, did we eat, as you can see in the pictures hereunder. Sandrine made her own gravad lax, we had oysters, tournedos rossini and too much of everything. The two cousins are so happy to see each other and play happily all day long. Happy Holidays!

Bits & Pieces of Christmas Cheer

1. I put up the Xmas tree beginning of December with my Christmas Partner in Crime Sven. We have a huge xmas past together
2. Olivia helped us decorate the tree.
3. Home made Christmas scent with lemon, orange, cloves, cinnamon, cranberries and simmering water.
4. Checking out the Christmas lights around our hometown.

5. Baking Christmas cookies, drinking hot chocolate and making gingerbread ornaments for Olivia's mini-tree

6. Christmas market in Liege

 7. Baking pecan & almond pie with Jana

8. Christmas market at Leuven with a not so successful tête à tête with Santa & a visit of Santa's home

9. Christmas market at our hometown with the usual suspects

Hibernating

...Under the blanket...
...In a warm coat...
...In front of the Christmas tree...
...with the ones you love...
It is the season to be hibernating!

I must admit that I had some difficulties getting into the Christmas spirit this year, don't know why.
But tonight I put on some Bing Crosby, sat in front of the tree, cooked some nice food and danced in the living room with my daughter on 'Rudolph, the red nosed reindeer' and I must say, poof, I'm in it again.
(I did some DIY Xmas decoration with the wreath decorated with red & green wool and the white red garland with white bells.)

This weekend we went to the Christmas market in our town & in the famous town of Bruges (where we met up with our friends, I stole these pictures from their instagram, because I lost all the nice pictures I took there grrr)

In Belgium, on 6 December we celebrate 'Sinterklaas'. A bit like Santa, but not quite.
Olivia got a lot of presents from Sinterklaas (well, from her grandparents, godmother, but shhhht)
She played all weekend with her new toys and we baked cookies and ate them with hot cocoa while watching an old movie.
Perfect.
Christmas, we're ready for you

(This kid is worse than a cat, if you look closely at our tree, u will see there are no ornaments left at Petti-height)
