Surprise Birthday

Last week the girls threw a surprise birthday party for our friend Jadwiga. Her face when she came in was just hilarious. Everybody worked together to bring this party together with cosmopolitans, pumpkin soup with toppings, tabbouleh, sausage rolls, party hats, hummus, guacamole, tomato salsa with tortillas, sloppy joes and of course a present. We all had a good time. Petti played with the other kids and of course her adult girlfriends. She just enjoys time with the girls as much as I do.
If you are wondering about the sloppy joes.
Here is a recipe I adapted from here
(makes 30 or less when you have big eaters on your hands)

2 kg ground beef, 2 cans of tomato cubes, 3 onions, 3 cloves of garlic, 2 handfuls of chopped celery, 70 gr of brown sugar, 1.5 tablespoons of mustard, 60 ml of white wine vinegar, Worcestershire sauce to taste, 200gr of sharp cheddar cheese, hamburger buns.
Cook the beef, onion and celery until beef is not longer pink; drain. Add the brown sugar, tomato sauce, some water, vinegar, garlic, salt en pepper. Stir in the cheese, cook until cheese is melted. Serve on buns.
